As part of the social responsibility initiatives carried out within the scope of the Community Service Practices course by the Faculty of Education, a meaningful book donation campaign was organized to contribute to students' educational opportunities.
Within the scope of the campaign, which was coordinated by Associate Professor Dr. M. Fatih Alkan, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Education, and Dr. Tuğba Kocadağ Ünver, Assistant Coordinator of Community Service Practices, books collected through the voluntary contributions of our faculty members and students were delivered to the students of Fevzi Çakmak Secondary School in the Haliliye district of Şanlıurfa Province.
Nurdan Büşra Başar, a Turkish Language Teacher at the school where the book donation was carried out, is also a graduate of the Turkish Language Teaching Program of the Faculty of Education at Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University. Following her graduation, she shared the needs of the school where she was appointed with our faculty, thereby taking the initiative in this meaningful process of solidarity. Consequently, the strong bond between our faculty and its graduates was transformed into an exemplary social responsibility initiative that contributed to the education of students.
Through the donation, students were provided with the opportunity to access books from a variety of genres. In addition, the initiative made a significant contribution to promoting a reading culture, improving access to knowledge, and fostering a love of books.
In her message of appreciation, Nurdan Büşra Başar, Turkish Language Teacher at Fevzi Çakmak Secondary School, stated that the donated books would enrich the students' imagination, strengthen their reading habits, and make valuable contributions to their educational journey. She also expressed her sincere gratitude to all the academics, students, and volunteers who supported the campaign.
As the Faculty of Education, we will continue to support social responsibility initiatives that prioritize social contribution, strengthen the culture of solidarity, and promote educational opportunities through the principle of equality of opportunity in education, while continuing to build bridges of goodwill with students in different regions of our country.
