Purpose

The purpose of the Coordination Office for Collaborations with the Ministry of National Education is to contribute to improving the quality of theory and practice by strengthening collaboration between the TOGÜ Faculty of Education, which provides teacher education for the education system, and the Ministry of National Education, which employs teachers.

Scope

Under the coordination of the Coordination Office for Collaborations with the Ministry of National Education, activities are carried out in the following areas: Refresher Training, Meetings with Master Teachers, Special Teaching Methods Workshops, In-Service Training Activities, Volunteer Academic Advising, Planning of Opening Lectures for the Academic Year, Teaching Activities by Volunteer Academics at MEB-Affiliated Schools, Local Education Congresses, and Research Collaborations with MEB.

Refresher Training

As part of the Refresher Training Program, teachers working at MEB-affiliated schools in Tokat may attend undergraduate courses offered by the Faculty of Education by making an appointment in advance. As a distinctive community service initiative of the TOGÜ Faculty of Education, the Refresher Training Program provides teachers with an opportunity to reinforce and update their previous teacher education through courses of their own choice.

The meetings are designed as informal and conversational sessions and may be organized as standalone events or held by inviting such teachers to relevant courses.

Special Teaching Methods Workshops

These workshops bring together teacher educators serving at the Faculty of Education and teachers working in the relevant subject areas to engage in workshops on subject-specific teaching methods.

Opening Lectures for the Academic Year

This initiative aims to have a professor from TOGÜ deliver the opening lecture at high schools at the beginning of each academic year. The tradition of university professors delivering formal opening lectures at schools offers a range of important benefits to both students and the wider educational community. The event provides students with an opportunity to gain insights from experienced academics and develop practical perspectives on the application of what they learn. By gaining firsthand exposure to academic achievement, students may be encouraged to set higher standards for themselves and pursue their studies with greater dedication. Furthermore, the collaborative nature of this initiative strengthens the connection between secondary and higher education, emphasizing continuity throughout students’ academic journeys. Overall, the presence of university professors during these events contributes to fostering academic engagement, nurturing a culture of learning, and facilitating a smooth transition between levels of education.

This initiative is expected to contribute to:

a) Bringing the university and the community together,

b) Connecting high school students with academics who can serve as role models,

c) Promoting TOGÜ,

d) Fostering high school students’ interest in and appreciation of knowledge, science, and academia.

Teaching Practices by Volunteer Academics in MEB-Affiliated Schools

The Coordination Office collects requests from Faculty of Education faculty members who wish to teach classes at MEB-affiliated schools, communicates these requests to the relevant counterparts at MEB, and coordinates the process. This initiative aims to provide faculty members with opportunities to enhance their practical experience in teaching their respective subject areas in authentic educational settings.

MEB Research Collaborations

The activities carried out within the scope of MEB Research Collaborations are designed to address the need for research into local educational issues in Tokat. Within this framework, research topics identified by the Tokat Provincial Directorate of National Education and requested to be investigated are announced. Faculty members who wish to conduct research on one of these topics submit their research proposal, ethical approval, and research permission obtained from ayse.meb.gov.tr to the MEB Collaborations Coordination Office in the format provided below. Once a proposal is approved, the AR-GE Unit of the Provincial Directorate of National Education supports the implementation of the research by the faculty member.
