The project titled ‘Water Awareness Training to Improve Sustainable Development Goals’ is carried out by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Selçuk ARIK, one of the faculty members of our faculty, and Assist. Prof. Dr. Tuğba KOCADAĞ ÜNVER worked as a researcher, is supported by TÜBİTAK 2237-A Scientific Training Activities Support Programme. Assistant Director of TOGÜ Career Application and Research Centre, who worked as a researcher/trainer in the project, Lecturer Dr. Aslı ŞENSOY, Yozgat Bozok University Faculty of Education Vice Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ferhat KARAKAYA and Dr. Eray SELÇUK, who works at the Ministry of National Education, are also on the organizing committee.
TÜBİTAK 2237-A Water Awareness Training Project to Improve Sustainable Development Goals is carried out in cooperation with Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University, Yozgat Bozok University and the Ministry of National Education. The project is carried out with the participation of 22 trainers from 10 different universities including Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University, Atatürk University, Boğaziçi University, Erciyes University, Gazi University, Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University, Ondokuz Mayıs University, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University, Trabzon University and Yozgat Bozok University, as well as 2 different institutions including Kayseri City Hospital and the Ministry of National Education.
The project aimed that ‘Science teachers receive water awareness training in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) determined by the United Nations Development Group (UNDG)’. The project was carried out interactively online via Zoom platform on 4-7 November 2024.
On the first day of the project, opening speeches and acquaintance activities were held. ‘Online Warm-up Activity’ was organised by Assist. Prof. Dr. Aslı Şensoy conducted the event. Information on ‘Sustainability’ and ‘Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)’ was given by Project Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Selçuk Arık; information on ‘Water and its Importance for Our Life’ and ‘Life in Water’ was given by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ferhat Karakaya; information on ‘Water Ecosystem’ and ‘Life in Water and Aquatic Environments’ was given by Prof. Dr. Mehmet Yılmaz.
On the second day of the project, information on ‘Clean Water and Sanitary Conditions’ Assoc. Prof. Dr. Esra Kızılay; ‘Water Related Problems: Water Pollution, Wastes, Acid Rain, Thirst and Drought’ Prof. Dr. Munise Handan Güneş; ’Water Related Problems: Disasters' Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ufuk Sözcü; Information on “Waterborne Diseases” Expert Dr. Alparslan Demiray; Information on “Fair Water Use and Right to Water” Asst. Prof. Dr. Ayşe Aytar; Information on ‘Climate Action’ Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hanife Gamze Hastürk; Information on ‘Water Problems and Global Warming’ and ‘Water Problems and Global Climate Crisis’ Asst. Prof. Dr. Gaye Defne Ceyhan gave information.
On the third day of the project, information on ‘Qualified Education’ was provided by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hanife Gamze Hastürk; information on ‘Water Footprint and Reduction’ was provided by Asst. Prof. Dr. Ayşe Aytar; ‘Water Literacy’ and ‘Water Awareness’ Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nazihan URSAVAŞ; ‘First Aid in Aquatic Environments’ Expert Dr. Alparslan Demiray; ‘Sustainability and Life in Water in the Curriculum’ Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ferhat Karakaya; ‘Water Teaching with Concepts’ Prof. Dr. Dilek Çelikler; ‘Problem-Based Water Teaching’ Prof. Dr. Edal Şenocak, Dean of our Faculty.
On the fourth day of the project, Prof. Dr. Şeyda Gül informed about the topic ‘Life Based Water Teaching’; Asst. Prof. Dr. Aslı Sarışan Tungaç informed about ‘Inquiry Based Water Teaching’; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yasemin Özdem Yılmaz informed about ‘Argumentation Based Water Teaching’; Dr. Eray Selçuk informed about ‘Project Based Water Teaching’; Prof. Dr. Necmi Eşgi informed about 'The model of ADDIE', 'Web 2.0 Tools-1' and 'Web 2.0 Tools-2' and Research Assistant Şanser Bulu informed about ‘Artificial Intelligence and Educational Applications’ and ‘Artificial Intelligence and Educational Applications’.

The project will be held face-to-face on 19-20 November 2024 at Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University Faculty of Education. We are looking forward to the second phase of the project, where participants will apply the knowledge they have learned in online trainings in face-to-face workshops.
